A paradise for mountain-enthusiasts
Spiterstulen sits at 1111 meters above sea-level. by the old thoroughfare through Visdalen. In 1874, the mountain farm was expanded with guest rooms where travelers could stay overnight. Guided tours to Galdhøpiggen had also been offered for a fee since the early 1800s. Spiterstulen was originally a summer mountain farm belonging to the Nigard Sulheim family farm and has been expanded and modernized over several generations. The old character has been preserved with small and large houses gathered in a courtyard. In the sheltered and lush Visdalen valley, you will find rich flora, babbling streams, overgrown animal graves, and legendary summer farm ruins. The area offers great activities and hikes for families, as well as advanced mountain tours, including access to 17 of the highest peaks in Norway.
Our guest rooms range from small cabins and family units with private bathrooms to youth dormitories with bunk beds and shared laundry facilities. We can accommodate around 220 guests. Additionally, we have a designated camping area and space for RV parking with sanitary facilities nearby, including drinking water. There is a waste disposal station for toilets and gray water, as well as the option to refill fresh water. The season at Spiterstulen typically runs from around March 1st to around May 1st and from around June 1st to around October 1st.
